Bulker Yeoman Bontrup major ship fire in Scotland

The large self discharging bulker Yeoman Bontrup has suffered a major fire onboard yesterday. Currently moored in Loch Linnhe. A large coastguard tug "Anglian Sovereign" is also on the scene and assisted in the fire fighting. No one was killed but there were some minor injuries. All the crew got off the vessel.

Many thanks for linking to Kilchoan Diary. This is a tragedy, not only for the ship and its crew but also for the tiny village of Lochaline which serves the quarry. They recently lost their only other major industry - a silica mine - and this threatens to lose them the quarry work.

I live right on the Sound of Mull so use Ships AIS all the time - a brilliant site. Many thanks to all of you who run it.
