Alfred lock was busy again today with the arrival of the large bulker Wadag II. She had 3 Smit tugs on her for entry into the docks. Always a pleasure to watch the tugs at work close up.

Flinterrachel into Birkenhead 31st May 2010





Small cargo ship Flinterrachel arrived for Birkenhead docks today, very dull on the river!! Looks like she was a "dead tow" with no main engine power?? Smit Sandon and Smit Barbados were taking her in.

Tug Smit Sandon in Birkenhead docks






Smits new tug Sandon was at work in Birkenhead docks. She was helping the chem tanker Chemical Trader out. Smit Sandom was called Schelde 20 before renaming and starting work as part of the Smit fleet on Merseyside.
