Shipping on the Mersey 12th May

Got some time down Alfred locks today, the Stolt Guillemot was due into Birkenhead from Eastham. Out in the river there was....Mitrope, Spring, OOCL Belgium, Vikings at 12 Quays.

Weather was great to start but then the rain and hailstones came ;-(

River Mersey shipping 2nd Feb

A busy morning at the Alfred lock gates today, 2 vessels on their way in. 3 vessels already in, the coaster Gala and BBC Ontario were in the East float and the chem tanker Borchali is in Alfred basin. Out on the river the tanker Vega Spirit was inbound for Tranmere, the Stolt Kite and Saargas were on their way out. Coming into Birkenhead today were the chem carrier LS Eva and the coaster Ingrid. Weather was crap and thats putting it mildly

Stolt Tern at Birkenhead docks

Mersey regular chem/oil products tanker Stolt Tern arrived off Alfred lock gates yesterday, one of many such vessels in the Stolt line. Out on the river i caught the tug Forth Sentinel

Birkenhead docks 20th June

No updates for a while but got down to the docks earlier today for an hour. Been a quiet few weeks for shipping but there are 4 active vessels now in Birkenhead docks, Stolt Avocet, Monte, Emsbroker and Stinnes Mistral. Also seen here are 4 "laid up" tankers in Victoria dock. Got a good shot of HMS Plymouth too, looking a little worse for wear now which is a great shame for this Falklands veteran

Mersey movements 8th May

Couple of small carriers arrived this afternoon........Stolt Tern and Shannon Fisher. Large bulker Tian Du Feng was on her way out with 2 tugs helping. Some shots here taken with my compact thru my spotting scope (digiscoping)

Stolt Dipper and tug Brocklebank, Mersey 21st April

Stolt Dipper was inbound for Birkenhead docks this morning. Merseyside maritime museums tug "Brocklebank" was also out and about, this vessel is a restoration project and is often seen on the river or in the Albert dock complex, she is run and maintained by volunteers

Some tankers on a murky day, Mersey 18th April

Some inbound tankers this morning, Stolt Skua and Stolt Shearwater were inbound along with Stena Alexita heading for Tranmere. Very overcast today.
