Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels in Birkenhead docks

There are currently 2 Royal fleet Auxilliary vessels in Birkenhead docks. RFA gold Rover and RFA Fort Rosalie are now berthed at the top end of the West Float having been in Cammel Lairds for a sheduelled Service/refit

RFA Gold Rover on the move (again)

The Royal Fleet Auxilliary tanker Gold Rover was on the move again this morning, a dead tow from Birkenhead and on into the Cammel lairds yard. This is one of several moves of the vessel over the last few months. She is in Lairds for a shedueled refit/service.

River Mersey shipping, a little catch up

A few busy days on the Mersey this week, 2 RFA`s on the move too. RFA Fort Rosalie was moved from one dock to another at Cammel Lairds and the RFA gold rover was yet again moved from Lairds to West Float.

RFA Gold Rover leaves for service, 4th Jan





The RFA ship Gold Rover left Birkenhead docks today, she has been in NSL for work. The fleet supply vessel is on her way Portsmouth, conditions were "crap" to say the least, very overcast and drizzle.

Another RFA into Birkenhead





Today it was Gold Rovers turn to go into the docks, 3 tugs brought here out of the NSL yard and took her into Birkenhead docks. She has been in the NSL yard for a few months now for servicing/refit.

RFA Gold Rover in Birkenhead docks 16th Sept






The fleet tanker Gold rover was taken out of Birkenhead docks this morning and onto the NSL yard at the old cammel lairds yard for further work, 2 other RFA`s are already there including one of the largest in the fleet...RFA Fort George. NSL has won a major contract for the servicing of the RFA fleet.
