A quiet week!




Not much going on this week...............for me anyways, only managed 1 river visit. Got floating crane "Mersey Mammoth" at work in Birkenhead docks and small carrier "Rodau" was on the old Clan line wharf, east float.

Rumour has it that another RFA is on its way to NSL, arriving Saturday, will update if its true (or turns up)

Mersey movements this week





A quite week, did not get down to the river as often. Royal Navy patrol craft HMS Severn visited for a few days. Cruise ship Thompson Celebration was in Liverpool docks too. Dredger UKD Dolphin has been at work on the river all week.

River Mersey 20th...back to normal ;-)





After the weekends RN visitor today was business as usual on the river, quite a few tanker movements. Here is tanker Stolt Cormorant entering Birkenhead docks and one of her sister ships Stolt Egret on her way out of the mersey

HMS Illustrious leaves Liverpool 19th Oct






Royal navy carrier HMS Illustrious left Liverpool at 2pm today, very murky conditions. Lots of people at New Brighton to see her off. HMS Liverpool will be visiting her "home port" in about 2 weeks time

Some more "lusty" pics now i have sorted thru some more taken when she arrived. Have had some emails asking when she is leaving, originally heard she was sailing on monday 20th but according to one local paper she sailing on sunday at 2pm, have not been able to confirm either as yet.

HMS Cattistock and some Harriers






RN minehunter HMS Cattistock also came in today along with Illustrious, she now berthed in Albert dock, some pics of the embarked aircraft, harrier GR9`s and Seakings

HMS Illustrious arrives in Liverpool





The Royal navy carrier HMS Illustrious arrived on the Mersey today, right on time too, for the most part the weather was very good. There were harriers and seaking helicopters on the deck. Also in just after her was HMS Cattistock , a minehunter vessel, she is currently in Canning dock in the Albert dock.

HMS Illustrious visiting Liverpool 17th-20th Oct

Royal navy carrier HMS Illustrious is to visit Liverppol from this friday, she will be berthed at the new liner terminal at the Pierhead, she is sailing out on monday 20th and will be open to the public on saturday 18th (admission is free).

She has a flight of sea harriers and seaking helicopters embarked. Expected arrival is around 12noon

Moondance on the River Mersey 15th Oct





The Riverdance ferry ran aground off Blackpool earlier this year, her sister ship Moondance has been in the NSL yard for some time now, Today she left the yard and was taken into Liverpool docks.

MV Balmoral at Liverpool 12th Oct





The Fred Olsen cruise ship MV Balmoral arrived on the river mersey during the early hours of this morning, seen here at the new cruise liner berth at the pierhead. Nice bright condition if a little hazy, mersey regular Lagan Viking is seen here leaving for Ireland...

QE2 arrives in Liverpool for the last time





The world famous Cunard liner QE2 arrived in Liverpool today for the last time. Great weather today too. She made an impressive sight and is now berthed at the new liner berth near the pierhead, She sails tonight at 10pm bound for belfast.
