River Mersey and Birkenhead docks 30th June

A quiet morning on the river today, the "vikings" were on 12 quays and the IOMSP Viking was at the pierhead. Took a quick ride round the docks and seen Arklow Fame, AB Liverpool and large bulk carrier Spar Jade.

Empire State training ship arrives at Liverpool 20th June

A bit of a suprise visit today from a "steam turbine" driven training ship the "Empire State", a converted cargo ship from about 1970. Seen here berthing at the pierhead, will be here till tuesday (apparently)

Grand Princess at Liverpool 11th June

Cruise liner Grand Princess seen here on the new liner berth at the pierhead Liverpool. A huge vessel...109.000 tons!! sheduled for a few more visits over the summer.

Ocean liner "Grand Princess" coming to Liverpool

The huge cruise liner Grand Princess is to visit Liverpool on the 11th june. Probably one of the largest vessels to visit here at over 108.000 tons. heres the Wiki link..

Arriving at about 6Am, she will be sailing out around 5Pm and will berth at the new liner berth at the pierhead. She is currently at Dublin

HMS Ark Royal leaves Liverpool 9th June

HMS Ark Royal left Liverpool today in glorious weather, the bonus was 2 helicopters taking off her to fly around while she sailed out. The rescue seaking and a Lynx. Plenty of people around to watch what was an impressive sight that i hope we see more of!!

No she not gone yet!! rumour mill has it she sailing tomoro (monday) at around 4.30pm although the high tide is earlier than that so it might be subject to change so dont quote me. Will hopefully make it down there to catch here leaving, hope the weather is like when she arrived ;-)

Some regular visitors today

Some chem products tankers inbound today..Cumbrian Fisher and Agdash. Isle of Man Steam Packets "Snaefell" also arrived. Ark Royal can be seen here taking on fuel from the 2 small tankers alongside her

HMS Ark Royal on the Mersey 6th June

The Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal arrived on the River Mersey today. She here till monday and will be open to the public over the weekend. She made a great site on the river in glorious weather, all her helicopters on deck too. Took a lot of pics and heres a selection.
