HMS Ark Royal Liverpool visit in June

Royal navy aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal is coming to Liverpool in June. Arriving on friday 6th june and leaving on monday 9th june. The ship will be open to the public on Saturday the 7th June from 10am till 4pm. Ark royal was sheduled for the tallships 2008 but it seems like this is not happening, the RFA Lyme Bay is coming instead along with a selection of minesweepers and patrol craft. The destroyer HMS Liverpool is also on the "rumour" list for a visit during the Tallships 2008 but dont hold me to this ;-)

River Mersey movements 21st May

Quite a bit of "traffic" today, of note was the cable layer "Wave Sentinel" coming out of the NSL yard on the river (the old cammel lairds yard). Others included Arklow Spray, Fure Star, Daisy Dardo, and Gas Legacy

Cruise ship "Astor" at Liverpool

Cruise liner Astor arrived early monday morning, berthed at the pierhead she sailed on monday evening.

HMS Bulwark leaving Liverpool. 12th May

The assault/landing ship HMS Bulwark left the Liverpool pierhead just after 2pm today. There were 2 flypasts by RAF tucano training aircraft as she sailed out.

Snaefell arrives on the Mersey 12th May

Isle of Man Steam Packets fast craft "Snaefell" arrived this morning, i think this is her 1st voyage carrying passengers after a long spell in dock for upgrading and a new paint job, she should now be a regular visitor.

HMS Bulwark and RFA Fort George, Mersey 9th May

Some large naval visitors today, Landing/Assault ship HMS Bulwark and the RFA (Royal fleet auxilliary) Fort George. Bulwark is now berthed at the pierhead and the RFA is now in the NSL yard (old cammel lairds). Conditions not too good, warm but overcast and misty.

Mersey movements 8th May

Couple of small carriers arrived this afternoon........Stolt Tern and Shannon Fisher. Large bulker Tian Du Feng was on her way out with 2 tugs helping. Some shots here taken with my compact thru my spotting scope (digiscoping)

French minesweeper FS Andromede
