LCT Landfall 7074 being raised in birkenhead docks this week

The worlds only surviving Landing craft tank that took part in the D-Day landings LCT7074, is this week being raised from its position in Birkenhead docks. She had in effect sank in place for many years. the large mobile crane Lara 1 is doing all the "heavy" lifting along with a lot of air bags.

the vessel will eventually be moved to Portsmouth RN museum were she will be restored for display

since these images were taken she has in fact been raised and now the huge clean up operation can start. will get some more recent images over next few days
