Birkenhead docks 20th June

No updates for a while but got down to the docks earlier today for an hour. Been a quiet few weeks for shipping but there are 4 active vessels now in Birkenhead docks, Stolt Avocet, Monte, Emsbroker and Stinnes Mistral. Also seen here are 4 "laid up" tankers in Victoria dock. Got a good shot of HMS Plymouth too, looking a little worse for wear now which is a great shame for this Falklands veteran

Mersey movements WE 15th May

Bit of a catch up from the past week. Although the Manannan was the big news this week there were other vessels on the River Mersey. Support vessel Normand Skarven came oput of Cammel Lairds, she in support of the Ensco92 drilling platform thats in Liverpool bay at the moment. Another support/survey vessel, the Fugro Commander came out of Langton lock and went into Cammel Lairds. P&O vessel European Endeavour arrived and went into Liverpool docks. Finally "box boat" Hajo arrived and went into Birkenhead docks. Weather for the most part was the usual "Mersey murk" Maracas Bay was seen on her way to Eastham

The Cammel Lairds ship yard on the River Mersey

While out to catch the new tanker Eagle Stavanger i went up the tower at the old Priory church in Birkenhead, this gives amazing views of the surrounding area but best of all looks straight down into the docks at Cammel Lairds shipyard. Here you can see the RFA Fort Victoria, in for her service and chem tanker Forth Fisher.
