Mersey movements 30th April, tanker Thornbury





A miserable day today, heavy showers and very overcast. Oil tanker Thornbury arrived for Tranmere. Going into Birkenhead docks with wood was the small coaster Red Duchess. Out on the river was Whitchampion and a russian cargo ship Amur-2527, she went into Garston.

Pacific Sandpiper on the Mersey 27th April





PNTL vessel Pacific Sandpiper arrived this morning and went into Cammel Lairds (no idea what for?)

She is one of a series of ships that are used for transporting nuclear fuels/waste etc, usually between europe and japan. Also here is the tanker SKS Mersey at the Tranmere oil terminal

Clipper Point arrives in Birkenhead 23rd April





Another Seatruck vessel arrived in Birkenhead this morning, her sister ship Clipper Panorama was here last week. Tugs Smit Donau and Waterloo brought her in.

Calmac Ferries Isle of Arran on the Mersey




The Calmac Ferries vessel Isle of Arran left the Mersey on the 16th April after a spell in Lairds for an inspection after a grounding incident on her usual scottish route.

RFA Fort Victoria on the River Mersey 13th April





The FRA Fort Victoria was loved from Liverpool docks today, she was taken into Cammel Lairds. She was a dead tow (not under her own power) with 4 Smit tugs on her. She is one of a number of RFA`s that Lairds has a contract for service/refit.

Tug Svitzer Waterston in Birkenhead docks 1st April





Svitzer`s new tug "Waterston" left Birkenhead docks yesterday for "trials" in Liverpool bay. She has been on the Mersey and in NSL since last year when she arrived for repairs after bieng grounded. She will eventually sail to Milford Haven were she will be part of a new fleet of Svitzer tugs that will service the port.
